Elegant and subtle, Andamiro’s Personal Player Shields provide protection between player stations
GARDENA, CA, June 5, 2020 — Across the country, arcades and family entertainment centers are grappling with the early stages of reopening and exploring best safety practices during the COVID-19 era, which can last into next year. Since the coronavirus outbreak prompted federal and state government officials to shut down U.S. entertainment businesses in mid-March, the amusement industry has been considering which cleaning and safety protocols – the new “rules of play” – will provide customers with the most peace of mind. For this reason, Andamiro has developed machine-specific partitions for some of its games with two player stations. These Personal Player Shields (PPS) are easy to install and provide a stylish separation solution for Andamiro’s SpongeBob Pineapple Arcade, perhaps the most widely placed pusher game, and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, which was on its way to becoming this summer’s blockbuster arcade attraction. Several partitioning products have been introduced over the past two months, many of them appearing to be self-supporting bulkheads that can be arbitrarily placed between individual games. Andamiro’s solutions are specific to its games, creating a protective barrier and precise fit between two player stations on single cabinets.
Andamiro USA is seeking input from operators to help determine demand for its Personal Player Shields. Please email [email protected] and let us know how many you’ll need. Lead times to produce and ship our shields is about two weeks, so they’ll be able to ship to operators by the end June. They will be provided through Andamiro distributors, costing about $150 or less.
Andamiro’s Personal Player Shields are made of 1/4” clear acrylic that is lightweight, durable, flexible and “insulative.” SpongeBob Pineapple’s shield, which installs between the game’s two front windows, has white trim along the outer edge and offers precise separation without attracting attention. Jurassic World’s shield is a freestanding system that slides into position; when the base is positioned under the cabinet front, the shield aligns to form a snug fit between the two player stations. “Our shields are intended for temporary use,” said Andamiro USA president Drew Maniscalco. “We’re happy to offer them to help operators address customer concerns about safety.” According to the latest guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the coronavirus spreads mainly from person to person, rather than via contaminated surfaces. “Our Personal Player Shields are a simple, subtle and effective virus transmission mitigator that will allow operators to keep both sides in play on SpongeBob and Jurassic,” Maniscalco said. “And they look sharp.”
JURASSIC WORLD: FALLEN KINGDOM (pictured above) with removable Personal Player Shield offers physical separation via freestanding installation. Simply slide base and partition into position. When base is positioned under cabinet front, shield aligns to form tight partition between player stations.
SPONGEBOB PINEAPPLE ARCADE’s Personal Player Shield (above) only requires a mounting bracket that easily installs between the games two windows. The flexible clear plastic partition has white trim along the outer edge and offers precise separation without attracting attention. Material: 1/4″ clear acrylic.
